WELCOME TO BOY SCOUT TROOP 26

Troop 26 has been active in Cromwell, CT since we received our initial charter in 1939.  We meet on Thursday evenings at 7 PM at our Scout Hut located near the entrance to Watrous Park.

We're a very active and community oriented troop and we welcome you to browse our site, view our activities and photos and stop by and attend one of our meetings.  Should you wish to contact us with a question, suggestion or information for posting on this site, please use the contact us link in the top menu.

Current troop activities can be found on our Calendar and in the Camping, Meeting and Special Events sections of our website.

A few sections of the site are still under construction and contain "fill" text. Please confirm any information or dates with a troop leader.

Weekly Troop Meeting

Troop 26 meets every Thursday evening at 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm throughout the school year.   The focus of our meetings is planned by the Patrol Leaders Council and coordinated by a Patrol with the assistance of a parent volunteer.  In addition to working of Scouting skills and advancement requirements we schedule fun activities.  Our meetings are held at our Scout Hut but once a month we travel to another location to take part in an activity such as rock climbing, go Karting, or rifle shooting.

Use the MEETINGS menu to check the meetings section for this week's agenda.

Troop 26 Camping

Troop 26 schedules a monthly camping trip to a variety of interesting places places throughout Connecticut and New England.  All scouts are encouraged to attend and parent volunteers are also welcome. We typically leave after school on Friday night or early Saturday morning.  We return by mid afternoon on Sunday.

Use The CAMPING Menu To See Information About Our Upcoming Camping Trips.  Check the FORMS menu for permission slips and driving instructions.

In addition, the Troop participates in a week at Summer Camp.  This is typically scheduled for the second week of July at Scout Camp Workcoeman in New Hartford,  CT. (See this year's calendar to confirm dates.)

THANKSGIVING

As Americans, we have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.  We live in freedom, most of us have an abundance of food and clothing, and we all have adequate shelter.  We are as blessed as any people in the world, but sometimes we forget that and gripe that we don't have even more.  Let's remember that a lot of the worlds population goes to bed hungry in homes hat few Americans would want to live in.

So it's good to remind ourselves occasionally that we are lucky and thank God for our blessings.  That's what Thanksgiving really is, a time to give thanks.  The Pilgrims started it more than 100 years ago when they gathered to thank God for a bountiful harvest.

Today Thanksgiving is a time for family gatherings around a groaning table followed by watching  football games.  There's nothing wrong with that.  But it's important that we don't forget the real meaning of Thanksgiving.  So when you sit down with your family for Thanksgiving dinner, take time to count your blessings and thank God for them.

Outdoor Gear Tips From Boys Life

  • Fish catching tips
fishing-200x148It feels like I'm the only one who doesn't get fish when I go fishing with anyone. How can I make sure I'm not the only one not bringing home fish?
  • Hydration bladder as daypack
gerber-200x148I need to know what you think about Gerber's Liquifusion Hydration line, specifically the Military Reserve Hydration Pack. I admire the size of the reservoir and the large Molle grid. I read that it is made here in the U.S. and it seems like the perfect summer camp daypack once I attach some Maxpedition pouches. All I need to know is your opinion on initial quality and your take on its usefulness for my chosen application.
