Pedro's WebLog

  • Dad keeps pressuring me to earn merit badges
Dear Pedro, I'm only 13, but my dad keeps pressuring me to earn merit badges required for the Eagle Award right away. I know I shouldn't wait until the last second, but is it really necessary when I have five years left? I mean, it would be nice to earn Eagle palms, but I have a lot of time. What do you think?
  • Hmmm, disappearing magazines
Hi, Pedro, I really enjoy the magazine. I have tried to make a collection of Boys' Life, but every time I clean my room the magazines disappear somehow.

Jokes From Boy's Life

  • “Perfect Peanuts”
A book never written: “Perfect Peanuts” by Ella Fant.
  • The nickel’s bad joke.
Zach: What did the dime say to the nickel after it told a bad joke? Sarah: I don’t know. Zach: “That didn’t make cents.”
  • A tired skeleton.
Gavin: What do you call a tired skeleton? Connor: Beats me. Gavin: The “grim sleeper.”

Weekly Troop Meeting

Troop 26 meets at our Scout Hut located near the entrance to Watrous Park every Thursday evening at 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm throughout the school year.   The focus of our meetings is planned by the Patrol Leaders Council and coordinated by a Patrol with the assistance of a parent volunteer.  In addition to working of Scouting skills and advancement requirements we schedule fun activities.  Our meetings are held at our Scout Hut but once a month we travel to another location to take part in an activity such as rock climbing, go Karting, or rifle shooting.

Use the MEETINGS menu to check the meetings section for this week's agenda.

THE SCOUT TRAIL

When we go hiking we spend most of our time on trails.  Sometimes the going is easy because the ground is flat and smooth.  Other times it's all uphill - steep and rocky.

The Scout advancement trail is like that, too.  Some of the requirements for the skill awards and merit badges are easy for you.  Some are tough like an uphill climb with a 40 pound pack.

Outdoor Gear Tips From Boys Life

  • Simple, affordable lock-back knife
    Q. When I get a new traditional lock-blade knife, it often messes up within the first hour. When I close it, the blade flips in and out and will not completely shut. Why isn’t it working?
  • Stuff We Like: Pelican 1020 Micro Case
As high-tech gadgets like smart phones, digital cameras, and GPS devices continue to find their way into the outdoors, we have to find ways to protect them. One of the best, and most affordable options is the Pelican 1020 Micro Case.
