THE SCOUT TRAIL

When we go hiking we spend most of our time on trails.  Sometimes the going is easy because the ground is flat and smooth.  Other times it's all uphill - steep and rocky.

The Scout advancement trail is like that, too.  Some of the requirements for the skill awards and merit badges are easy for you.  Some are tough like an uphill climb with a 40 pound pack.

Troop 26 Congradulates Our Newest Eagle Scout PDF Print E-mail

The Troop 26 community is proud to recognize Eric O. as our latest scout to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.  Good job Eric!

FlyingEagleMedal_350MThe fact that a boy is an Eagle Scout has always carried with it a special significance, not only in Scouting but also as he enters higher education, business or industry, and community service. The award is a performance based achievement. Not every boy who joins a Boy Scout troop earns the Eagle Scout rank; only about 5 percent of all Boy Scouts do so. This represents more than 1.7 million Boy Scouts who have earned the rank since 1912.

Notable Eagle Scouts include the first man on the moon-Neil Armstrong, the mayor of New York City- Michael Bloomberg, Former President of the United States -Gerald Ford, writer and producer of the Simpsons- George Meyer, and film director -Steven Speilberg among many others.

To earn the rank of Eagle a scout must progress through the scouting ranks, earn specific merit badges,  demonstrate leadership skills and complete service projects.

Outdoor Gear Tips From Boys Life

  • Hiking boot brands
    Q. I want to buy some hiking boots and I was looking at some different brands. What boot brands do you like and what else should I consider when shopping for hiking boots?
  • Waterproof headlamps
    Q. Dear Gear Guy, I was on a hike last weekend with my troop and accidentally dropped my flashlight in a stream. By the time I fished it out of the water it was dead and still doesn’t work. I need a new one and am wondering if anyone makes waterproof headlamps?
